Choosing to extinguish the band name under which Gira and Jarboe had worked together for so long must not have been an easy step, but when they decided to end Swans with one last studio release as a prelude to a farewell tour, they did so with what turned out to be their biggest and best album ever.

Soundtracks for the Blind can’t really be characterized into one consistent sound, mainly because the album is so incredibly diverse.

I can already tell that this record, even though as of writing this section of the review, is gonna be a big one. I mean i'd hope that a 2 hour long record, an album that's longer then most movies, would be at lest an attempt at something groundbreaking, game changing and mind blowing. Hell, if anything i'd scared to even touch this. How can I do justice to a record that seemingly is perfect in the eyes and ears of literally anyone who listens to it? as the last LP before their breakup, swans goes out with a bang, as an art rock album that is very experimental but focused as well. the voices talking and mumbling on some tracks give this album a theme, and a trippy one at that. this is one that is very ... read more
