It is one of few albums I think truly lives up a to a classic standard, and is one of the most memorable and ridiculously twisted listening experiences I've ever embarked upon.

Swans' out-and-out noise may have receded into quietude and somnolent hypnoscapes, but this monster of an album will leave ripples pulsing out for many years to come.

Choosing to extinguish the band name under which Gira and Jarboe had worked together for so long must not have been an easy step, but when they decided to end Swans with one last studio release as a prelude to a farewell tour, they did so with what turned out to be their biggest and best album ever.

How in the f... I don’t even know what I just sat through.

To Be Kind is one of my favorite albums of all time, and this album was truly a mind melting experience. I felt relaxed throughout te massive chaos of noise that was this album. It feels post apocalyptic and void of light, much as the name could explain. I found this to be blood pumping, psychedelic, and unbelievable.

"Well... well fuck, haha
I mean, I just don't know what to say
I'm very glad to be here with you tonight
I'll be able to talk to you about some things...
That I know a great deal about
Everyone knows that you are fucked up
And everyone knows that I am fucked up
But, does everyone know
That you are more fucked up than me?"

The most unique 2hr+ journey I've EVER had!

Swans are one of the most fascinating groups I've heard of in my life. They seem to have a unique musical range that can divide an audience despite their huge appeal due to the runtime of their material being an off-putting factor. Others seem to find their experimental style to be hard to get into or boring. For me, even though I've only heard 2 albums prior to this experience, I can definitely say that I'm quite fascinated by them as a band.

Famous February #21

OFC after I say I will catch up on this, the next album is a 2-hour long journey. While Swans' Soundtracks for the blind is incredibly artistic and emotional, It's not something I see myself coming back to. this isn't the type of music you listen to; you experience it.

This is my second Swans album, and what a journey it is.

First off, this album is massive, with 26 songs and running at 2 hours and 20 minutes, and it feels like it goes by in half an hour because so much happens on it. There are so many unique, incredible sounding songs on here, with sounds including drone, ambience, post-rock, noise, and even a dance pop song in here too!

While it may sound like random garbage on the surface, there is this feeling of dread that I feel is present in all of ... read more
