Choosing to extinguish the band name under which Gira and Jarboe had worked together for so long must not have been an easy step, but when they decided to end Swans with one last studio release as a prelude to a farewell tour, they did so with what turned out to be their biggest and best album ever.

Soundtracks for the Blind can’t really be characterized into one consistent sound, mainly because the album is so incredibly diverse.

How in the f... I don’t even know what I just sat through.

To Be Kind is one of my favorite albums of all time, and this album was truly a mind melting experience. I felt relaxed throughout te massive chaos of noise that was this album. It feels post apocalyptic and void of light, much as the name could explain. I found this to be blood pumping, psychedelic, and unbelievable.

"Well... well fuck, haha
I mean, I just don't know what to say
I'm very glad to be here with you tonight
I'll be able to talk to you about some things...
That I know a great deal about
Everyone knows that you are fucked up
And everyone knows that I am fucked up
But, does everyone know
That you are more fucked up than me?"

So.

I can already tell that this record, even though as of writing this section of the review, is gonna be a big one. I mean i'd hope that a 2 hour long record, an album that's longer then most movies, would be at lest an attempt at something groundbreaking, game changing and mind blowing. Hell, if anything i'd scared to even touch this. How can I do justice to a record that seemingly is perfect in the eyes and ears of literally anyone who listens to it? It's almost like the Holy Mountain of ... read more

After listening to their 2014 release "To Be Kind" I completely forgot about them in general, but I seen people talking about this album. "Soundtracks For The Blind." I had no idea what to expect going into this album. I was kinda iffy on the length of the album since it was over 2 hours long. I put it on and immediately I fall in love with it, when it reached "I Was A Prisoner In Your Skull" I was already mesmerized with the album. Then "Helpless Child" ... read more

The Greatest Album I Have Ever Heard.
There was nothing like Soundtracks for the Blind. There is nothing like Soundtracks for the Blind. There will never be something like Soundtracks for the Blind. What is Soundtracks for the Blind?

Simply put, Soundtracks for the Blind is two hours, twenty-one minutes, and thirty-seven seconds of pure, raw unfiltered, ugly, beautiful, messy, brash, terrifying, disturbing, sad, and maniacal emotion put into sound. If you turn off the lights, put on your ... read more
