The full, colourful spectrum of Jamie is on show here, as broad as it’s ever been.

Trick may well be his masterpiece, combining all the elements that have made him such an enduring and much-loved musician over the years to create a genre-bending classic.

The Line of Best Fit
A record that gleefully skips through genres without ever missing a beat, Jamie T’s fourth effort is a genuinely magnificent album that surpasses anything else in his discography with consummate ease. He simply hasn’t missed a trick.
A return-to-roots record that works most successfully when it rebels against itself, Jamie T's vision of revelation isn't something to be easily shrugged off.
Drowned in Sound

Trick is comfortably Jamie T’s best album so far, showing off every element he can and touching many bases without ever feeling like the contrast is jarring.

Jamie T.'s fourth long-player is a return to the infectious and rebellious spirit of his first two records. Trick is also his best work to date.

Loud and Quiet
The second half of this album is great, it’s just a shame it takes so long to get going.
No Ripcord

Despite his grander statements falling flat and a mid album slump, Trick sees Jamie T at his absolute best.

The Guardian
As ever, so much depends on your tolerance for Treays’ desire to make “big statements” ... but this at least feels like Jamie T is being himself again.

‘Trick’ is a record that feels like a trip back into what he once was, only with all his senses heightened. ‘Grudge’ was polished; this is as rough and ready as it gets.

Wimbledon-based singer/songwriter Jamie T is back with another pretty successful and critically-acclaimed album in his brief, but consistently ambitious catalogue. Trick highlights the artist's many facets, ranging from his usual indie-rock style to a handful of other genre-hopping detours. As mind-boggling as some of the first few tracks may sound, it is very difficult to see the same cohesion and consistency value that most critics claim him to present, even when his forward-looking antics ... read more

What makes Trick such a standout album and not simply just a greatest hits as some are titling it is the amalgamation of all the different sides of Jamie T. Having left some of his carefree attitude at the door on his last release, Trick manages to bring this in alongside all the other best elements of the artist from his excellent songwriting capabilities to his flexible and alluring voice. He may be four records in to a nearly decade spanning career but it’s a relief to see that the ... read more
