Even their last album is a huge achievement. Why? It’s three successfully well written and well performed albums in a row, it has some of their best songs, and it marks the end of the Stoner rock/metal giants. As much as I adore Queens of the Stone Age, there is nothing quite like Kyuss, Homme at some of his best especially. ...And the Circus Leaves Town exhibits a substantial drop in songwriting quality from Kyuss's previous 2 efforts. The album's main flaw is that essentially every song except for the 11-minute Spaceship Landing is underwritten. The lack of thorough songwriting is a big problem for the songs that don't have good riffs (i.e Gloria Lewis, Size Queen), and passable for those that do (i.e One Inch Man, Catamaran).
