A significantly worse follow up to Rodeo. Rodeo had some incredible moments, and some awful moments. BITTSM takes the worst moments, and makes them much bigger and in your face. Travis' autotuned crooning got old after 2 songs, and his flows sound exactly as they did on his previous projects. Kendrick sounded drunk on his verse, Andre 3000 had a mediocre contribution, and Kid Cudi makes me consider suicide. I have to give Travis props for his attempts at progressing his style of ... read more

I decided to listen after I heard Astroworld to compare

I expected to really hate this album. I’m not sure, maybe it had to do with Fantano’s opinion of this. BITTSMK has a couple really pointless tracks in it, that’s true. What I like about this album though is the melodies of it. Something ASTRO completely threw out the window was the amazing melodies that albums like Rodeo has. It is full of forgettable mush. However despite BITTSMK not being nearly as ambitious, it still ... read more

Returning with a lot to deliver but very little to offer, Travis Scott swipes every last ounce of what was left on the floor after the surprisingly refreshing Rodeo last year. On Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, Travis chooses to leave the stage and (almost exclusively) get his countless guests to act for him. While the contributor-list most certainly brings an eye-opener of a lineup to the album, very little can be rehashed as we find a really messy and unbalanced mix of voices all thrown ... read more

[newest edit: this shit is pretty dope, it's growing on me, and escalating very quickly. I'd say forget my old review(below this), minds change man...]

*OLD REVIEW, FORGET THAT THIS IS HERE, MOSTLY:*

Not the worst, but still not that great. Again, for the majority of this, it feels like Travis is not bringing any of his ideas to life, ending with this uneventful and forgettable album. This is very focused and cohesive though, with it feeling very consistent with it's ideas and feelings. At ... read more

There is nothing of significance to see here. BITTSM is an uninspired record with the most drowsy production I have ever heard from Travis Scott.

The record screams lazyness in all aspects imaginable. This is not Travis Scott trying to improve upon Rodeo, this is a Travis Scott who has no reason to innovate, because his brainless fanbase will love his album anyways.

I hope this album kills the autotune trend.

One of the most over-hated rap albums I've had a chance to listen to. With the exception of songs like sweet sweet and guidance being bad, I found that the rest of the songs on the album to range from good to great.
The entire record sounds like a drug-induced experience. The autotune, the melodies, the vocal projection and layering is beyond fantastic. While this album may not be as amazing as Rodeo, there are numerous highlights that deserve to be talked about and hopefully with time this ... read more

Let me get this out of the way off the bat; most of the lyrics on this album suck. Even from the featured artists. Yes, even Kendrick's verse. Andre 3000 however killed it.

With that said, this album took a bit to grow on me at first. It seemed less dynamic and engaging than Rodeo, which ultimately may be true. However, upon repeat listens, the albums sticks with you, in ways Rodeo didn't. Birds is much catchier, much more immediate, and much more professional than anything else Travis Scott ... read more

While not as impressive and unique as Rodeo, BITTSM is still worth checking out. Travis still does a good job keeping me interested in his music and I definitely look forward to what he does next.

My fav tracks include "Goosebumps", "Through The late Night", "SDP Interlude" and "Beibs in the Trap"

Great

Still had the dark, pleasing aesthetic from Rodeo, despite not being as exciting or memorable.
But these druggy instrumentals... I can't get enough of.

Best: goosebumps, through the late night, pick up the phone, sweet sweet, coordinate

Weakest: outside

Scott fell off on this thing. There was so much promise in him after Rodeo when it came to making ambitious and exciting hip hop. Rodeo was something special and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is sadly not. Instead, this album slipped past Scott's fingers and into a pool of rehashed, uninspired, pop-centric hip hop. Maybe more good will come out of him after this.

Basically Rodeo but with some inconsistencies in sound and quality.

This album is certainly no Rodeo, but I'm genuinely surprised it's looked down on as much as it is. The production is incredibly elegant, and unlike anything you will find in the work of his contemporaries. Travis once again does his job of delivering great flows and melodies, and the guest features are top notch (Andre 3000, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug, The Weeknd, one of 21 Savage's better verses etc.) These features can sometimes be the album's weakness, however. NAV didn't add much ... read more

Oh man... this album right here? You see it? You feel it? Yeah this record is so absolutely undeniably just ok.

Travis Scott proves he is the pinnacle of trap music. The Houston native delivers his most dynamic project yet. Stepping out of every comfort zone he created for himself. Let the birds sing.

I arrived at this album from the opposite standpoint of most Travis Scott listeners,
I thought Rodeo was a commercial blunderbuss, That at times had Travis sounding like a Kanye West stunt double.
Birds in the trap however, is a Travis Scott essential, its his personality from cover to cover, with an absolute mood.

Structurally(which is Scotts true craft) we see him pushing mood to the forefront when usually by design he places his mood orientated tracks to the backend of his albums, this ... read more

A completely unexciting and uninspired offering from Scott. Instead of telling rich stories like Rodeo, Scott attempts to form a whole album around a vibe- dark, foreboding, drugged out- sometimes even gothic. But that's it. Most of the melodies are trash, there are way too few features, most of the beats sound exactly the same... there are a few essential cuts, and I do enjoy about half of this project- but there's too much trash to ignore.

Travis falls short on pretty much every front here. Birds is a painfully generic trap record, especially compared to Rodeo. It might technically be better than a lot of other trap records, but not by much. The songs are messy, meaningless and worst of all, boring. Overall the sound isn't the worst, just not worth your time.

This album seems to be an attempt to remake RODEO, but without effort and without inspiration.
There are some hits here and there and that's it.

Edit: original score was 70

“Stroke my cactus” is the best grouping of words ever probably.

A grower. I still don’t like Beibs in the Trap, and the the intro for Coordinate is absolutely fucking ear-grinding annoying, but this project has some strayt-up earworms and bops on it.

An over-hated project with some great production and good vocals and rapping

Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight feels like a watered down, mainstream version of Rodeo, an album that I think is really great. Now, this album isn't really that bad at all, it's just nowhere near as good. Overall, there are a lot more bangers on this album than what Rodeo offered. Rodeo was more smooth and dark.

I really wish Travis was a lot more ambitious with this project, but what we ended up with was overall good. It just has... so... much... potential.

This album is definitely not as good as Rodeo, but it wasn't meant to be a successor to Rodeo. For what it is, though, it's fantastic in it's own right. Though it's nowhere near as ambitious and psychedelic as Rodeo, it's still a fantastic spacey trap album that isn't as consistent as it could have been. It definitely falls off in the 3rd act a bit

Travis decides to take every great thing from Rodeo and dumb it down to about nothing to make one of the most colorless, bland trap albums.

I really don't understand how Travis thought this would turn out good. Did he just feel like being generic? Seeing how this album came less year after it's far superior predecessor, it's fair to say this was unfinished and rushed. This album contains some of the most painfully drab and slow songs I've ever heard, and these songs aren't even that ... read more

Well, I try to think this album was really bad, at least compared to Rodeo.

This album ended up sounding what I'd feared listening to Rodeo for the first time. Almost everything in this album feels too stale and aimless. Whilst the production is dark, tense and consistent, it would sound empty on many parts of the album. Travis doesn't sound as focused, which deeply impact the album for me. But it's an alright trap album in general

Nonetheless there are some bangers in here.
