Lil' Yachty's newest album has an absurd reception, but it is not just a symptom of hype. He has reinvented himself, while maintaining what made him a lovable voice from day one. Let's Start Here is beautiful, and has me hoping that this is not his peak. Please keep going on this path. I really look forward to what is next.
"I been knowing that Lil Yachty had that dawg in him. I've been listening to his collabs with Magdalena Bay since my first year with the Heat in 2010. You can ask my teammates, none of them knew him, I always knew he was up next." - Lebron James
This is what mainstream hip hop needs. Paying for incredible production without sacrificing your artistry.
With the name of the album, maybe Yachty is trying to inspire a new trend to be started in the confines of modern trap, or maybe he's ... read more
can't believe we've been blessed with a high quality yachty album, i used to pray for times like this
Oh. Oh you weren’t joking.
I’m surprised we’re even still talking about Lil Yachty in 2023. The man was inescapable back in 2016 to the point that even me, someone who at that point in my life was very unfamiliar with trap was well aware of him and his controversial sound. At the time everything about Lil Yachty’s auto crooned cloud rap sound found on his “Lil Boat” mixtape was too foreign to me to enjoy, but as I’ve expanded the bubble I’ve ... read more

Umm, excuse me? How the hell did this happen? If you told me yesterday I would not only like, but love a Lil Yachty album, I would have laughed in your face. Well, here we are anyway. Obviously, the production is not anything I would expect from Yachty, but it's innovative, it's something new and it's sounds good. The vocals are not conventionally good per se, but they fit perfectly with the instrumentals and, once again, they sound great in that context. The features ... read more
fuck you yachty, take your 9.5 and fuck off
my head hurts from thinking about this too much imma go lie down
is this really the same goofy ahh dude that made it get cold like minnesota?
Lil Yachty comes back after a bit of a slump during his post-lil boat 1 days, and breaks through by completely changing up his entire sound and style for more of a psychedelic rock type of vibe. I have no clue how or why we got to this point, I'm assuming that wock Yachty took to Poland really changed him as a man, cause holy FUCK this was amazing! Production on here was absolutely stellar, you can feel the Pink Floyd ... read more
Wtfff this is not rap letsgooo
Some heavy Animals Floyd vibes on here, that's the last thing I expected from this guy. That's what I call character development.
I wouldn't have even listened to this if it was another rap album, but this was honestly such a great surprise.
The instrumentals are amazing, The structures are fantastic and while the vocals aren't the selling point here, they surprisingly fit pretty well.
This guy has been taking Ws ever since Poland and it's great to see.

I never considered Lil Yachty to be a boundary pushing, risk taking type of artist but I’m so happy i was wrong
“Let’s Start Here” is just amazing. The trap voice inflections blend incredibly well with these psychedelic instrumentals and the tracklist is extremely tight. I love how focused this thing is in both sound and themes
Although I consider the whole thing to be very consistent I must say that the true standouts were the more psych rock inspired songs rather ... read more
How is this possible?
I've been very hit or miss (mostly miss) with Lil Yachty's music in the past few years as it never really clicked with me. His presence however was an appealing factor and made him stood out but his talent was often undermined by stylistic choices.
But here, I'm honestly lost for words... just when you think 2023 is looking to be a great year for music, Yachty arrives with a new album, having completely taken a 180° turn and puts out something that surpasses ... read more
5 years after release of this album:
- Playboi Carti plays Neutral Milk Hotel and Joanna Newsom covers on the main stage of Coachella;
- Lil Uzi Vert collaborates with Rammstein for his new industrial metal album, having spent three years learning German for this;
- DaBaby tours Texas for the third time this year with Kid Rock on the opening act, dueling Tom MacDonald on the banjo;
- YoungBoy Never Broke Again is recording his 45th pop-punk mixtape with Machine Gun Kelly using AI for ... read more
Shouldn't this be under Yacht Rock?
(Also this is the 500th rating now it can have the silly little star)
Yachty The Creator
"Love him or hate him, he is probably going to change the world." -Rolling Stones' blurb on Yachty's debut studio album Teenage Emotions. maybe they weren't wrong
obviously this has nothing to do with what we came to expect from Yachty. I knew he was talented but damn. Show this album to anyone that says rappers aren't talented
I can only compare this evolution to Tyler The Creator with Flower boy and Quadeca with I didnt mean to haunt you. I even wanna ... read more
I can’t believe it. How the fuck do you expect somebody like him to make something of this quality?
I wasn’t expecting it to be this good, even though the bar has already been set high by the user score. Where he normally does hip-hop, Lil Yachty made a psychedelic rock album that suits him much better than what he’s done in the past. If he were to either keep going with this sound or make a synthpop album, I’m more than happy for it.
I’ve always felt like Lil ... read more
Lil Yachty has always felt like the mainstream trap equivalent of an outsider artist to me, checking all the boxes needed to fit into the genre's stylistic boundaries in theory, but always driven by his quirky personality and lackadaisical approach to music. These aspects always made him stand out among his contemporaries and also made him quite an honest and personable figure in a genre that can often feel dominated by artists who feel like exact clones of one another. However, let's be ... read more
I'm unironically upset that the Alex g/Mac Demarco track wasn't much more than an interlude

Lil Yachty dropped the greatest progressive rock record ever.
Ok, but jokes aside, what the fuck is this? Why does it go hard? Lil Yachty sounding like Pink Floyd over here. This surprisingly sounds so incredibly gorgeous and is way better than I expected. I wasn't expecting Yachty to drop a Pink Floyd album this year at ALL, but he honestly does it really well. The mixture of prog rock instrumentals and echoey rapping makes a ... read more
bro took the wock to poland and came back all bricked up like a mf.
This is truly the strangest metamorphosis an artist could have, and it was the type of risk I was dreading to accept. Everyone knows rapper-turned-rocker crossovers. And everyone knows how awful they can get. But here, one of the least respected trappers returns to show the industry how it's done.
GOD DAMN, IS THIS FIRE.
The production hits like a dump truck, and the sonic passages all over this record are phenomenal and ... read more
Yachty did it!!! He finally came through and capitalized on his potential!!!!
On “Let’s Start Here”, Lil Yachty takes his biggest creative swing yet and completely leans into a psychedelic direction, which mostly goes over well and makes for a pretty great listen.
I have had a love/hate relationship with Lil Yachty’s music up until this point. I’ve really wanted to like his music for a while now, but his projects just haven’t done much for me and he ... read more
Lil Yachty made a career-defining shift into psychedelic rock with an album that pays respectful homage to the sounds of Pink Floyd, has mainstream appeal like Tame Impala, and is sure to be regarded as an AOTY candidate. If you had all this on your 2023 bingo card, you're a liar.
Lil Yachty has had a... fine career to this point in his life. But lets not beat around the bush here, he isn't a rapper/artist that garnered very much respect and critical acclaim. The music Lil Yachty has made to ... read more
Partindo dessa ideia, nota-se ... read more
