Even as a longtime fan of Fireworks, much of what I’m hearing remains mysterious even after excessive jamming sessions. What I do know without a doubt: as much as I love their other albums, I’ve never been quite this intrigued.
There’s genuinely great ideas here, but a lot isn’t properly executed. Fireworks’ ‘Higher Lonely Power’ often stumbles not too soon after it gets going. While songs like “God Approved Insurance Plan” and “Veins in David’s Hand” are quite good, the vast majority of the group’s fourth album is miserably boring.

the first album i listened to in 2023 is by band be been a fan of for a while. i’ve loved their previous albums and even got the opportunity to see them live a couple months ago!! this is their first album in over 8 years so needless to say , i was very excited when i saw it’s announcement. this does not really feel like a comeback album, but i really enjoyed it regardless. i like how they take their old sound and add to it with influence from a variety of genres outside of pop ... read more
I feel like Fireworks has some cool ideas for songs but the full album is just not good. Production is overproduced, vocalist trying too hard with the vocals which makes them shitty. The band has mostly done pop punk, which this album is most certainly not. But I like it that way. Not every track is amazing, but so many of these songs have great production, vocals, writing, and are honestly really pretty. I would love for an entire ... read more
