[I invite you to read my review of Billie Holiday's album - Billie Holiday Sings (1952)]
To put it in context, the fifties are both a dark part of her life but also one of the most musically prolific. The year 1956 was particularly important as Billie brought out her "autobiography" written by ghostwriter William Dufty but also an album to complement the work.
