Brooklyn MC and ATL restaurant owner Skyzoo’s latest release, The Mind Of A Saint: A Soliloquy by Skyzoo, is a master class in pulling off a conceptual album without breaking character or losing steam (no easy feat).
Some really strong conscious rap. Intelligent bars & varied subject matter over consistently smooth boom bap/jazz rap influenced beats. Skyzoo's rapping is always deep, but he has a way with words that makes his bars easy to digest. The quality of the album dips rarely and the last leg of the project is especially great. Good shit right here; makes me wanna check out some more of Skyzoo's works
Modern jazzy boom bap concept album exploring the trials and tribulations of trapping. Not the level of something like All The Brilliant Things, as I feel a few of these beats could've used some more deviation from the strict loops they're usually kept to. However, still an enjoyable venture for faithful Skyzoo fans.
This is another solid conscious jazz rap album from Skyzoo, with production this time handled by The Other Guys. Skyzoo sounds as good as ever and there are some great instrumentals here. The tracklist is also really consistent and concise at ten tracks. Overall though, the project feels slightly too by-the-numbers for jazzy boom-bap so I'm probably not going to come back to this quite as much as 2021's 'All The Brilliant Things'.

Early contender for jazz rap album of the year. Great beats and lyrical focus reminiscent of 90s jazz rap. It however feels original and creative enough for Skyzoo to separate himself and show as one of underground hip-hop's best.
