Short Review #3005
This is an album swap with fast-growing AOTY user @ZironReviews, who will review …Like Clockwork by Queens Of The Stone Age.
I’ve been trying to get more into breakcore, and I’m sure this album should be a great introduction to breakcore for some people. Good job, @teeth_!
Favorite: In Time, We’ll Be Forgotten
Least Favorite: Tonor’s Ode
71mins of breakcore / dark ambient? Yes please!
If there's one thing I got to start off with, its the memories of playing Silent Hill 3 as a teen and those were the scariest gaming moments I've had during some nights; nothing's really topped that still.
The level of anxiety that game provides to you due to the heavy reliance on psychological horror, dark tone and dimly lit gruesome layered environments with monsters that make the sounds of worn out rust being scraped against or distorted ... read more
Album Swap with @VER0
Genre: Ambient, Breakcore
I now have a huge urge to go to every Thrift Store in my area and look for Silent Hill.
This may be the shortest review I've done for an Album Swap yet since my dummy brain can't figure out what to say. I never felt so mixed listening to a record before. I love the idea of this record bringing the chilling atmosphere as something like the Silent Hill soundtracks but I have never been so impatient with a record waiting for it to finish. My ... read more
Hey guys! its me *teeth :DD tysm for enjoying an album which took 5 months to make! thank you to all my friends who were apart of this project <3 make sure to check my insta @hollow_teeth more music soon!
this album shines when it takes heavy inspiration from silent hill and goes full ambient mode though the breakcore parts are good too.
AOTY user makes a Silent Hill inspired horror-ambient breakcore album. And it’s not bad!
Not too familiar with *teeth and his work, but this as a debut feels very appropriate as it’s showcasing a lot potential as an arranger, producer, and artist. This album uses a lot of characteristics found within the Silent Hill franchise such as dark aesthetics, dissonant and ambient soundtracks, and uncanny, eerie environments through the games. These are cleverly designed to juxtapose the ... read more

Breakcore is such an interesting genre to me, although it's not something that I regularly listen to, I can understand why it has such a cult following. The use of ambience and fast paced drum fills are what make breakcore unique, with a very dense atmosphere and a heavy mix of horror elements such as background murmurs which accentuate the emptiness and eeriness or the layers of sound to create a dreamlike aura.
And whilst I haven't played the Silent Hill series (I ... read more
Dude, we're hardly more than a month into the new year, and yet we already have over 3 solid contenders for AOTY. I distinctly remember a lack of good albums in 2022, so I guess this is where they were all hiding.
Ps, do any of you know where I can download/purchase this album?
I haven't listened to this, but the artwork and the inspiration alone deserves a 100
edit: now that I’ve listened to this, yeah this deserves a 100, fantastic album
For being over an hour of breakcore and ambient built almost entirely off Silent Hill samples, Lost Memories stays fresh the whole way through. It’s a testament to *teeth’s musicianship, assured in what his vision is without falling into a pattern of repetition because of it, built on speedy drum ‘n’ bass with moody synth pads laid on top but entirely singular in the path it takes to get to that point, cold and lonely and perfectly matching the atmosphere of the ... read more
Holy shit, I was blown away. It's very PS2-core, even sampling Silent Hill and perhaps other PS2 games. I would love to see a full list of samples/inspirations for this album. The drums sound like something you'd hear in a Metal Gear soundtrack. The beautiful ambiance is so reminiscent of old horror games, I could close my eyes and imagine James Sunderland or Cheryl Mason walking through a thick fog. Absolutely stellar album.
ok bear with me as i never ever write reviews for albums but i havent felt this way about an album on first listen in AGES. i absolutely adore the genre, and survival horror is my favorite game genre all time, Akira Yamaoka being my favorite composer of all time. Im not even joking when i say this album is near perfect, every single feature DELIVERED big time as well as the sampling in general is god tier. I may have a bias cause of my love for the series, as well as ambient and dnb music but ... read more
Taking heavy influence from artists like sewerslvt, Lost Memories undoubtedly delivers with some bangers.
It's weird to rate this since I'm friends with teeth but some very atmospheric and solid dnb on here with a lot of pleasant ambient stuff
