Dork
In a pop era where anything is possible, Biig Piig is leading the charge for an alt-pop revolution.

Still Listening

Biig Piig is one of the freshest Éire acts around, delivering liquid smooth drum and bass across her debut mixtape Bubblegum.

80
NME
With songs that are distinctly upbeat, the singer and rapper's debut mixtape is a compelling change of direction.
80
DIY
The mixtape allows space for this experimentation, jumping from one emotion to the next, yet finds consistency in Biig Piig’s inability to stand still.

The Observer

Though Bubblegum is brief, at seven songs, Biig Piig’s sound brims with poise and promise.

The Arts Desk
Smyth’s musings on connection, desire and loss glow with personality, her silky voice is a thing of wonder, there are constant twists that stop the stylistic references falling into cliché, and the whole thing holds together fantastically.

The Line of Best Fit

It’s more than a taster but leaves plenty of room for development in the future, maybe experimenting with different instrumentation and letting the songs stretch out and breathe beyond their sub three minute durations. Until then, let Bubblegum ever so sweetly tear you apart.

Clash
‘Bubblegum’ is the most creative, well-thought-out and simply fun project to come out of the UK alt-pop scene in quite some time.

One Sentence Wrap-Up #2:

I would have loved to get more than just these seven songs, but Biig Piig's first mixtape 'Bubblegum' is a great dance pop appetizer that has piqued my interest for what she'll do next.

É um caso bem atípico, bem estranho, e que custaria muito tempo para se desmistificar até se descobrir se possuí algum valor ou não, ... read more

(analbumaday day 288) This was a fun little EP. It had sweet bubblegum vocals and cool beats to accompany it. It may not be anything special but it's execution and production is great and for that it deserves some praise.

(Analbumaday Day 288)

Second listen of this short album, and I actually enjoyed it even more this time around! I really like the vibes of this album, the whispy vocals matched with the great production and catchy beats, ‘Bubblegum’ is definitely a suitable title. I was bopping my head pretty much the whole way through, and even though it isn’t technically impressive or pushing any boundaries, it’s worth the 18 minutes sitting through just to get your funk on a bit. ... read more
