Sigh...I've had this record on repeat for days now, and you know what I've been able to get out of it? Absolutely nothing. All these songs are just so carelessly thrown together and they sound so similar. At the end of each listen, It felt like I had just listened to some other rock band's extra tracks thrown in a blender and this mess was the final result. I found the instrumentals on the album from front to back to be really solid. Sure on some songs they seemed like cheesy rock songs, but they're good nevertheless. The vocals are underwhelming on some parts, and the lyrics are all over the place on some songs. Which keep me from enjoying it more than a 69/100. Still has some pretty good songs tho on the album nonetheless.

Best Songs: This Song Is A Mess But So Am I, Over Before It Began, Fake I.D.

It seems decent enough as a power pop/garage punk record while it’s on, but if you listen even slightly more attentively, overly melodic and sterile guitar lines and atypical, whiny, melodramatic emo lyrics do a great disservice to a band that built it’s name on uninhibited energy and topical songwriting. Disappointingly safe and bland.

2014 was a big year for Joyce Manor. They signed on with Epitaph Records and put out their most successful album thus far, “Never Hungover ... read more
