Godspeed You Black Emperor's music is far closer to art and texture than it is to modern rock, pop, or any other contemporary genre. It's like a far-subtler Pink Floyd, without the comfort of a human voice.

The Canadian nontet's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is a massive, achingly beautiful work, alternately elegiac and ferocious.
This is a massive-sounding record, as huge as you'd expect from a nine-piece band. The four long pieces spread over two CDs build on the familiar godspeed template of sprawling soundscapes sketched out by hazy guitar lines, lilting strings, found sounds and errant voice-overs.

First full listen through was very enjoyable but i didnt have my full attention put into it at moments so ill have to sit down at some point and listen to it a little less casually to fully embrace this piece of art but even from a casual listen its one of the best records ive heard.
