I don't see where the critics get all the hype from, it's very overrated and really it's just a decent album. There's nothing bad, I think that the paid critics are being a lil over zealous.
"You know what makes me sick? Everyone thinks they're a comedian...five people, FIVE FUCKING PEOPLE, have said I look like the lead singer of Blur today! I have a fucking condition! Can you believe that shit?!"
"Sir, this is a Wendy's"
He has a good voice and it has some bops on that album, like Elvis Look-alike Shadows and Bridget St. John. However, the instrumentals of the songs are extremely similar, which gives the feeling that I'm listening to the same track multiple times.
I'm not saying it's bad, but what are the critics smoking? This is decent at best, it's got some good performances but it's also really boring.
I can appreciate some of the things about this album, but it's very slow, and while it sounds cool, it's not my cup of tea.
Critically overrated and popularly underrated. In truth, it’s the pinnacle of an agreeable, regularly Good album.
Hawk’s voice evokes Morrissey’s melancholy when he beautifully sings over a varied collection of jangle pop and indie rock. it’s anthemic and powerful at points and tender and bare at others, with his emotive singing adding extra potency. even with all its qualities that work for it, however, it fails to strike an emotional chord. despite the urgency presented in each track, it doesn’t resonate as deeply as it feels like it should. the production can use a bit more ... read more
It's...fine? Like, certainly not bad at all, and there's some very good indie rock here, but most of this album is about as memorable as...uh...I was gonna think of an analogy, but I forgot what I was gonna say.
Favorites: Think of Us Kissing, Elvis Look-alike Shadows, Bill
Least favorites: Frontman, Dog-eared August
Hamish Hawk puede hacer buenas canciones, pero aún no escapa de sus influencias, que claramente son Elvis y Bruce Springsteen, y que aparecen constantemente en su forma de cantar.
TENUE 6/10
With Angel Numbers Hamish Hawk makes me think of The National, in particular the singing of Matt Berninger. At the latest with the second song "Think Us Kissing" the similarity is discernible. But unfortunately neither the voice of the Scottish singer from Edinbourgh nor the songs can really stick with the Americans from Ohio. And that's the point to quit any comparisons, because if you listen focussed to the album you will find noticable tracks (on side A of the vinyl, it's almost ... read more
Always had a thing for these boring, long-ass indie rock/pop singer-songwriter bullshit. I love his voice, I find it soothing. Lyrics aren't remarkable or anything, just okay. Instrumentals are repetitive and I do agree with the majority here, that once you've listen to the first 3 tracks, you've basically listened to them all.

The Killers

To be honest the album does start off pretty decently but man I won't lie it does kind of become a chore to listen to after a while. You will start to realize that the sounds you hear after the first 3 tracks are pretty much what you will hear for the majority of the album and this sound is just not nearly entertaining enough. His writing isn't bad by any means and his vocals are good too but even his vocals can get tiresome after listening to it for over a half an hour. Really nothing too ... read more
It's not a bad album but I don't understand the hype that the critic's give it.
Favourite Songs: Once Upon an Acid Glance, Elvis Look-alike Shadows, Bridget St. John, Angel Numbers.
Least Favourite Songs: Money, Grey Seals.
M8 who the hell are you? Why do you keep popping out on the main page?
I don't mean to be like "I don't know who this is or what does this sound like, so BAD". So I listened to Angel Numbers, and I must say there's a hindrance of merit to this huge critic score, but this is not AOTY material (the prestigious title, not the website). Still, decent work, Mr. Amish Hook.

REVIEW #36: Angel Numbers by Hamish Hawk
There's not really much I can say about this record. Because not much of it feels super cohesive. And due to that, the emotions of this record don't really resonate with me.
While I do think Hamish Hawk somewhat lacks in versatility, his prominent singing voice is really eloquent. I think his vocals on Desperately help to morph the track into sort of an 80s synthpop type pop song that I actually dig. I think the chorus on this song is one of the ... read more

High rated albums with a singer-songwriter tag are often disappointing. This album has little to show in term of songwriting and fails to develop its sound. Some songs are nice but there's little variation among them. Definitely overrated; I side with the AOTY users on this.
Not as great as the critic reviews say, and probably not as bad as the users will say after getting all pissy about the critic reviews. As if an artist pushing their work is a sin.
His voice is the main draw to the project, breathing as much swagger as some of the top dawgs in his lane. However on the instrumental side....... It's just a little barren, not exactly bad, songs such as Elvis Look-alike, Bill, and Frontman, are actually very well produced and pretty at some points. However ... read more
Critics love this one, the rest of us not as much. I think it’s pretty ok. Half the tracks grab my attention but nothing really levels me. Let’s see how this plays out in 6 months
