Really liked the first few songs, but it fizzled out real quick and I had trouble finding the individuality in most of the songs.
Super clean production, really well arranged tracks that make a nice overall progression, and their really powerful singing voice make this Yves Tumor project really engaging and enjoyable. It's just a really nice art rock album.
Today was a day of disappointments, this still has quality music, but doesn't live up to expectations. I loved Yves Tumor's last project but this really doesn't compare to it in quality.
The production on this is super clean, even if I think most of it is one note(I will get to this point later) it's all technically really well done. The same can be said about song structure and mix, its all pretty good for the most part. The album starts insanely strong with "God Is a Circle", ... read more
9/12. Fav Tracks: Lovely Sewer; Meteora Blues; Heaven Surrounds Us Like a Hood; Fear Evil Like Fire; Purified By the Fire
I enjoyed Yves previous albums requiring and rewarding focussed listens but despite giving this one a few spins I came out feeling somewhat cold. I applaud their artistic aspirations and maximalist sound, but for me it felt a bit too much of everything thrown into the pot.
Yves Tumor continues to amaze me. I can't help but fall deeply into this art-rock fantasy. Meteora Blues and Ebony Eye are standouts.
yves tumor is over 50 years old and continues to develop as an artist. there is no reason your favorite artist should be releasing uninspired songs.
Some great songs here for sure but I don't feel it's the most cohesive or consistent record.
pretty good record, i really like what Yves does here. Most songs sound good and catchy, the intro track is great
Overall, a good experience. The instrumentals and the vocals are very good. That name is a bit long for an album though.
Eh. It's an alright album. I wanted to like this way more, but sadly most of it just didn't stick with me much. The only track that really stood out to me was the second to last track: Purified by the Fire.
Really focused post punk oriented album from the substantively stylish glam psych icon Yves Tumor. This is a tightly performed and captivating album. Less immersive--more direct. The pacing is strong--but some of the tracks blend a bit. I really enjoyed the groovy rhythmic sound of this album--and I would like to see Yves Tumor continue exploring this. A good amount of potential realized.
O cheiro de AOTY. A última vez que me senti assim foi ouvindo o grandioso Magdalene da FKA. Brilhante!
Pure Glam rock pop perfection
Yves is changing and morphing into the ROCKSTAR he has always been
I think if this was my first Yves Tumor album I'd be hyped. But after the last 3 especially, this just didn't hit as hard. It was pretty mellow especially compared to their last record. Just felt a little safe, as if Yves wasn't taking as many artistic risks this time around.
I first stumbled upon the eccentric music of Yves Tumor on their splendid 2018 album Safe in the Hands of Love and with every new release since, the inner rock star has shined bigger and brighter and that persona now culminates on their latest Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds). Past ventures into bass throbbing post-punk and shimmering dream pop are still present here, especially with the fabrics of “God Is a Circle”, “Lovely ... read more
For an art and psychedelic rock soundscpe this has some fantastic songs and some extreme misses. Fun album overall.
