Air Not Meant for Us is one of the most beautiful things I’ve heard this year, and it deepens and strengthens Fires’ yearning, invigorating foundation.
The critics reviews in this album are so misleading. No way you give 100s and 90s to this garbage.
Definitely a bit of a gimmicky combination of genres, especially when the mixing and instrumentals are decent at best.
I don't know really, it felt like it lacked any punch due to the mixing. It might've been that or the extremely distorted bass tones. It's creative and tries to mix two quite different sounds which I can commend, but beyond that, it feels very hollow. Especially compared to projects from similar genres.
Some reallyyyy good melo-death, the air may not be meant for us, but i'm grateful this album is!

A beautiful lush death metal album, with these gorgeous rippling keys on top of everything. Love it. My favorite track has to be the instrumental Adrift, Beneath the Listless Waves, which is also the shortest song here at only six minutes, followed by the very melodic and dynamic Psalm of the Merciless. There are a number of things I really like about this album. They did a good job of evenly balancing the melodeath/doom genre combination, incorporating the piano, and especially creating an atmosphere. However, I have 2 major problems here that hold me back from enjoying it as much as a lot of other people here.
