Entertainment Weekly
While Lo’s lyrics are stark and intensely personal, the music sounds engineered for the masses.
The Line of Best Fit
It’s pop music of the highest calibre, music for the head, heart, feet and everywhere in between.

The hooks are there but, like Tove herself, they aren’t succumbing expectations. Rather, confusion rattles around the 12 tracks, exiting with more questions than answers.

Any pop singer with a body piercing and the odd song about sex gets called ‘edgy’, but Tove Lo deserves this tag more than most.
Slant Magazine

Lady Wood is admirably lean and tightly focused, and though it doesn’t boast confessionals on the order of Like a Prayer‘s, it offers a peek inside the psyche of a smart, burgeoning young star.

Rolling Stone

Whether she's high as fuck ("Influence") or stranded on the dance floor ("WTF Love Is"), she thrives on the power of losing yourself in sounds you can dominate and emotions you'll never contain.

Tove Lo's second album offers a platform for her to argue that self-destructive affairs of a particular sort of woman are a subject worthy of four-part concept albums.

Pretty Much Amazing
Though this cache of innovations is often depleted, when utilized correctly they wield enough ingenuity to distinguish Nilsson from the rest of the pack.
The Guardian
This album celebrates sex with an infectious joie de vivre, while tracks like Cool Girl – a sarcastic ode to no-strings romance – prove she’s not just posturing.

Lady Wood's second half is more consistent, in large part because the painfully honest -- and relatable -- drama queen of Queen of the Clouds is given a wider berth.

‘Lady Wood’ proves Tove Lo is one of the more interesting characters in what is often a personality-less genre, but unfortunately, her unique perspective is diluted by fairly humdrum electro-pop production.

oh god no

Let's move on in our dive through Fantanos NOT GOODs with Tove Lo's Lady Wood. This is the sophomore album from Swedish pop singer Tove Lo who I wasn't fully familiar with in terms of her album discography but I knew the name from a bunch of singles I heard years ago that I've completely forgotten about, and since I've forgotten about those songs I doubted in my mind that there ... read more
by abandoning a conceptual narrative for respectively passion, love and break-up, Tove settled in for a more feminine themed album to lay bare her strong nature when it comes to expose how well pleased she is with herself. she remains in the same route throughout the album and its characteristics are top-notch: she express sensuality, self-empowerment, romance and tons of maturity over the lyricism, which is average, but still surprising. what’s unparalleled in this album is the result of ... read more
In case you didn't expect it, what the cover implies is being further developed in the content of her second album, which aspires to be a bit more intimate than its rivals, did someone say Madonna?
