This one's for those who post nerd emojis whenever someone talks about the mixing...

The raw, ferocious, hold-no-prisoners Iggy mix | VS. | The limp-dick, personalityless Bowie mix

This just goes to prove that the mix is very much important to the end result of the music. Some of y'all may want to block your ears and scream at the top of your lungs, "Stop being a nerd and enjoy the music!" but that doesn't change the facts. Bowie was undoubtedly a master of his craft. He was ... read more

Much like 'Funhouse' The Stooges 3rd album 'Raw Power' doesn't do a whole lot for me, mostly because of Iggy Pops vocals. The instrumentals are good throughout the album however, I love the raw presentation and they reflect what the title suggests, but Iggys presence just makes them a chore to get through with how grating and obnoxious he is. I wanted to like this so bad but I guess the Stooges aren't for me.

PERFECT ALBUM #15:

"Raw Power" by The Stooges (1973) {Protopunk/Hard Rock}

Iggy Pop & The Stooges in full flex mode! Famously produced by David Bowie, and the band in a state of disorder - the combining couple crafted an album that, not only became a trailblazer, but set the tone for what would come next, punk. "Raw Power", was molded into the blueprint of how rock ‘n’ roll should always be: dark, dangerous, and full of filth. An album that requires ... read more

the first few songs set you up for an incredible album, but it ends up being just decent in the end. despite that, this album is super fun. the energy, the lyrics, the instrumentals. as many have said before, it very much encompasses what the album aimed to be: raw power. this might grow on me as even though many of the songs were just alright to me, that could just be my lack of experience listening to the genre/time period, as i was entertained somewhat the whole way through the album, which ... read more

A hard-hitting and straightforward set of hard rock tracks!

I have a soft spot for punk and garage music, and to listen to stuff that made punk music a thing to begin with is incredible. Iggy Pop and apparently Da(d)vid Bowie produced this album, and it's so good. Iggy's vocals are so animalistic and rough - like any punk record should be. This is concise and great.
