When it comes to Can, the most regularly cited albums are the unbeatable "Ege Bamyasi" and "Tago Mago", masterpieces of ambient, experimental and trippy krautrock that some would now call "off-the-wall", for lack of being able to describe their strangeness and fascinating complexity. If it's already established that Can are one more for the serious musos out there does that still hold in regards to their debut release?

Well, kind of, this first effort isn't as wildly experimental as what followed and is more classically/traditionally rock - specifically jammy psychedelic rock. The metronomic rhythms, samples, mantra like vocals, deep grooves and other elements you associate with krautrock are here but not in an all-defining way.

So much emotion. It's great how the sounds are coarse yet they use that to their advantage. This is a truly unique album.
