The Beebles In The 70s: Part 7

John Lennon’s 2nd album is a huge change in style from his first, it’s much more commercial and conventional, with less harsh and intense moments, it’s also far less consistent.

Though that doesn’t take anything away from John’s admittedly fantastic songwriting skills and his knack for a catchy tune.

Favourite: Imagine
Worst: Oh Yoko!

1. Imagine - 10
[So beautiful, a truly perfect song]

2. Crippled Inside - 5
[That instrumental is very frustrating and annoying completely over powers the vocals and just so hard to listen to by the end]

Imagine crippled inside jealous guy, it's so hard

John's a great example of separating artist from its art

The title track has to be one of the most overrated in the history of rock with little depth to its gigantic vision. The rest of the record has some enjoyable pop, tinged with an aggressive hangover from Plastic Ono Band. Jealous Guy is one of Lennon's greatest compositions.

Track Picks: 'Jealous Guy', 'It's So Hard', 'I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier Mama I Don't Wanna Die', 'How Do You Sleep?'
