Don’t Get Too Close ... is intriguingly weird, likely to confound the older fans while opening new doors for Skrillex as a collaborator.
If you do as the album title instructs and keep your distance from the record, it’s a great compilation of urban pop infused with hints of EDM. However, if you take the risk and take a closer look, Don’t Get Too Close has depth and substance that makes it another stellar installation from Skrillex.
Don’t Get Too Close is shorter and considerably more patchy, its best songs adding up to a great EP.
It could be said that Don’t Get Too Close appeals to a chill party atmosphere, but with that in mind, it’s hard to imagine a laid back group of friends getting together and listening to “3am.”
FUCK y'all this is good WAHHH ITS PLAIN WAHHH can we get some babies emojis please the way we need some bitches to take care of your whiny asses
I wanted this to succeed... but it just succed. The second half is absolutely ass. The first half has a few huge highlights, and I appreciate what this album tried to do... but it failed... hard. Not a great listen at all.
Edit: (39->52): I overreacted a bit. This is a more lowkey listen but it has a strong flow, even with overall weaker songs. It isn’t horrible.
Oh boy... what a drastic downfall in quality in contrast to his other album.
Skrillex's surprise 2nd album Don't Come Too Close has little of the charm, energy or flavour of his previous album that I listened to on Friday morning.
I was quite positive towards QUEST FOR FIRE and had good replay value with it.
I just knew from my somewhat indifference to the singles released for this album that this would be weak, but I didn't think the whole album would be pretty much dull.

QFF had this theme that was great to it but this just felt off entirely, like the features BEAM, Bladee and Yung Lean were amazing dont get me wrong, just the other songs listed just didn't make me think it even was a skrillex song to begin with like Summertime, Bad for me and Don't go, these sound like generic Rap songs with a somewhat edm twist in it, just felt like a downer after what was QFF which was amazing
This is so fucking boring, the album released before was a good EDM project with great tracks on it, this album is a boring ass producer album with a bunch of pretty mediocre people on it and boring production on it and awful mixing, like what was even the point of making another album because this is just a disappointment compared the material just released the day before, only one fucking track was okay, it just feels like a B Sides album and I didn't enjoy it.
