A highly anticipated, second album that is marked by the decisive move of the band to let the sun shine the tunes, as much as it needs to communicate the true virtue of the raw material that is captured within them.
R.E.M.'s 'Reckoning' brought SE Rock music to the world sans the Confederacy, the 'drawl', and dubious religiosity long associated with the region. Instead, we get this band, incubating in Athens, Georgia [A very cool College town and music scene] ultimately developing a stylistic hybrid labeled "College Rock." There's magic on this here album.
It has been close to thirty years I had a distant
crush on R.E.M. I guess from elementary school dances to present day, where recently went through a bunch of their albums. I can say that they haven't quite fully taken my heart me as I would expect.

Reckoning stood out in the recent albums review and didn't fail to disappoint in the last ten days or so, but also failed to change my mind much. I cannot actually understand what draws me to the album. It is on a plain overall. I love the ... read more
