The more time that goes by, the more I appreciate the music Jason Molina left behind for the world to have. Its pretty freaking heartbreaking that he spent the last 4 years of his life suffering from alcoholism, ultimately dying of alcohol abuse-related organ failure at the age of 39. He released all these amazing albums while still in his 20's and from what I can tell, didn't develop a serious drinking problem until after the release of "Didn't It Rain". Songs: Ohia's The Lioness is the first album which put them on the map alongside with Ghost Topic of the same year. With beautiful song wirting and bring slowcore and contemporary folk together to create heart felt and depressive tones but often coats them in warm sounding tunes to give the album a more sober and grounded feel to it. Honestly, it is one of the best easily and cases the raw emotional power of Jason Molina.
