Attended a release party recently.
Initial thoughts on the album are positive. Will update once HQ version releases on the 31st.
So I listened to this album at a listening party, and it was very mid. Not as bad as the first two, but immediately less memorable and less distinct. She’s taking a lot more inspiration from art pop, singer-songwriter, and folk music, but they feel less like Melanie and more like copies of the people she’s drawing her inspiration from. As I was lucky enough to attend a listening event and hear the album play through a few times I feel like I can form enough of a coherent thought to try and explain some early rough thoughts about this record.
DISCLAIMER: This is more of my general thoughts of what I heard, I was not able to fully interpret every lyric, so a more in-depth review is to come.
