Shirley's lyrics sometimes keep this from going full 10/10 perfect but it's so damn close and infectious. I love it. Bubblegum alt rock. Shimmering. DEEEEEPLY 90s in all of the Good and Cool ways.

Don't let the album's title fool you - Version 2.0 is not just a re-hash of the band's debut. Their self-titled project, as great as it was, could feel a bit homogenous, like it was stuck in a single sound for the entire record. Mind you that single sound was still great, but my point stands.

Version 2.0 tries to remedy that and is a way more diverse recording, employing pop, electronic, trip-hop, and experiment rock elements in ways more prominent and vivid. It's a less consistent project ... read more
