Tanya Tagaq is not an artist to fear innovation and forward-looking antics, and on her new record, Retribution, she insists on making this very clear. Her previous album, Animism, brought out Tagaq's fantastic overtone singing into a set of otherworldly instrumentals, taking the listener to distant, ancestral landscapes that were too abstract and strange (but undeniably vivid) to describe, and yet, the whole thing worked in a very cohesive way - which was, by all means, the key to its success. ... read more
Throat singing? Filth.
Some tracks of this album is out right disturbing as while others is ear-grading. I can say for sure this is probably one of the weirdest records i heard from the past few years. P.s that Shad rap feature was pretty epic and unexpected.
Es una de esas experiencias que carecen de sentido alguno, pero que contienen un aspecto accesible que nos parece entretenido. El juego de voces suena como un aparato poseído, que lleva una grado de descontrol a niveles bastante altos. Vas a sentir una nueva sensación de inquietud, pero una que vale la pena de todos modos.
