I was worried about the bands future after Isaac’s departure, but this made me feel optimistic about it.
bcnr friends forever!
this album for a live album and for a readjustment album after isaac leaving is so awesome and well put together, it doesn't feel like there's much missing with it at all. has some wonderful highlights, and i like how they utilize the other singers throughout the whole lp too

I. Absolutely love this and how BCNR keep on reimagening theirselves and keeping their sound authentic, yet thruthful to their traditional style
II. We all miss Isaac but it's very very fair to say that the ... read more
BCNR are in a bittersweet position at the moment, because while last year's Ants From Up There was so fantastic and one of a kind I had to name it my album of the year, its release also saw the departure of frontman Isaac Wood. Live at Bush Hall here confirms the band is still able to carry on sans Isaac, with several members taking up vocal work, while still managing to mostly hit upon the appeal of band's music thus far. While the charisma of Isaac is not easily replaceable, I think the group ... read more
The almost thirty second long applause at the end of Turbines / Pigs says it all
They're always great live I love BCNR
It seems like they're trying out some new things and it mostly works well for them, I'm excited to see what comes next. Comparing to other releases it just seems like there isn't as many highlights but still beautiful.
The band's takes their first major steps forward since the departure of Isaac, and the result is to great success. The combined vocals sound great and the progression of the songs are still so well-executed. Seems like they'll be striving for years to come!
Kind of boring on a first listen. Oddly lacks the energy of their studio work. The female vocals are a little too generic for me. Turbines/Pigs is a snore until the last 90 seconds. Just couldn't get into it. Might give it another shot in a year.
May Supremacy.
All the May tracks are 10/10.
Black Country, New Road have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with yet again. This album is very inconsistent and all over the place, and it feels like the band are trying to find their footing here. But what they managed to do here is absolutely perfect at points. Every release the band has done so far has been really special and noteworthy, they are in a league of their own.
With a bit more of a refined sound and direction, they ... read more
A very compelling live album.
I'll be honest, BC,NR has never really done much for me. Even with their 2 critically acclaimed studio records from the past couple years, I didn't understand the incredibly high praise that they had received. I still think both of those albums were alright, but I definitely don't consider them to be some of the best records of the decade so far. With that in mind, I really did not expect a live album of all things to change my opinion on the band. And while I'm ... read more
A live performance of unreleased songs and I enjoyed every single part of this live album. Isaac Wood may not be the lead vocals anymore but doesn’t mean the band still can’t be Black Country, New Road. Turbines/Pigs really really gets me in my feels and I have to say, it’s one of the best songs they’ve ever released. I’m truly amazed with what I just listened to today. ❤️
Only thing holding this back from being a 100 is the fact that it's a live recording. Don't get me wrong it's a wonderful live recording but I think a lot of the albums more climactic moments would've hit harder if recorded in a studio and mixed like a studio album. With that said I am still very satisfied with this live record release.
As soon as I found out about Isaac Wood's exit last year, my heart sunk. Not because I don't think the other members - and they're a big group - aren;t talented but because much of my enjoyment of their music relied on him. 'Live at Bush Hall' definitely goes beyond my expectations but not enough for me to renounce my concerns.
I was wondering why Lewis' vocals sounded so much more strained on this than when I saw them live back in October, but in the video released with this album he mentioned that he was under the weather, which is quite a shame since he's not nearly proficient enough a singer to overcome congestion. Hope he's well lol.
This is fantastic pretty much across the board otherwise. Some decisions I was neutral on, but nothing on here is close to bad. Also, the moment where Tyler picks it up on Up Song is ... read more
I really enjoyed BC,NR's debut and I think that their second record is the best LP by anyone since Sufjan Stevens' masterful Carrie and Lowell back in 2015 so it's safe to say that these guys are a band that I really really like.
Losing Isaac Wood doesn't have to be the end of them but this live album misses him immensely. It's uneven, the highs are less high and lows exist where they didn't before.
They remain a very talented bunch and I'm hopeful that BC,NR MKII can be every part as ... read more
I’ll be honest with you, when I heard that Isaac Wood was leaving BCNR I said to myself, “that’s it I guess, no more BCNR”. I was convinced that without him, the band just wouldn’t be as good. That punch that I loved so much from these guys just wouldn’t be there anymore.
And I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong. This first effort from the new BCNR we see today, even though rough around the edges, is an absolute masterpiece. Tyler Hyde as the ... read more
I think it's safe to say that this band is still in good hands.
After the departure of frontman Isaac Wood, the rest of Black Country, New Road were left with a big space to fill. So the band immediately began working on new material, and throughout the second half of 2022, they toured with a setlist of completely new songs, as well as a few songs that were originally for Tyler Hyde's solo project. So now, a little over a year since Ants From Up There, we have Live at Bush Hall, a collection ... read more
