In addition to being one of Sitar's greatest influence and musician, he was also for me the best Indian musician of all time. When he gave up dancing in 1938 to devote himself to Sitar thanks to his teacher Kahn when he was 18 years old, he composed his first works around 1944 (ballet at first, then film music later) and then became musical director of All India Radio until 1956. While I think it’s kinda long, it’s still a really good record of Sitar music. I’d even argue this is a record everyone must hear at least once in their lives tbh.
