The Durand Jones & The Indications frontman's solo venture is a deeply personal one, detailing the Southern Black experience in his Louisiana hometown.
Braiding stirring songwriting prowess and beautiful vocals, Durand Jones has created one of the most assured and brightest debut albums in quite some time.
Seemingly posed as a promise and a threat, Wait Til I Get Over is a striking and poignant deviation.
The concept is implicit in the music's gospel-soul communion, the lyrics' yearning and reckoning, and the rousing, towering power of Jones' purposively nostalgic soul vocal.
Multifaceted and consistently brilliant.

Highlights: Gerri Marie, Lord Have Mercy, I Want You, βThat Feelingβ, See It Through, Secrets

I’m delighted that I wasn’t tricked into a stinker with a great first 5 seconds. His voice is simply breath taking and the main enjoyment throughout the album. Then once actually listening to the album we get the introduction interlude which sets this up in a similar concept album/ linked themes that we saw on Fantastic Negaitiro, ... read more
