Sweet, quirky, delightfully frantic and insanely catchy pop music at its most quintessential. Akiko Yano's 'Tadaima' is, amazingly, a spellbinding odyssey of endless imagination. Yes, an all-time favourite of mine, truly a one-of-a-kind, enriching, mood-lifting experience I wouldn't hesitate to deem as "the pinnacle of pop music", but really, where do I begin unpacking this? Not normally one to give an album 100 after one listen, but I can't resist it with this.
Oh my god.
Listening to this has been one of my best experiences not just with music, but with life in general. It isn't particularly profound, but it's just so compositionally beautiful that anything less than this feels wrong. I've never heard anything like this that came before it, so anything less than this feels wrong.
