Most people have never heard the album -- it’s been buried and rarely heard, so it’s been accepted as common knowledge that it’s awful and the truth is, it’s not.
It's the sort of pricey collector's item you really shouldn't ever pay money for, lest you get laughed at by whomever you're trying to impress.

When The Velvet Underground & Nico released in 1967, reception was mostly indifferent and sales were unimpressive. Doug Yule commits invasion of the body snatchers type behavior. Like an ugly alien in VU skin. This is nothing. Just nothingness. It's just 33 minutes of nothing at all and it feels like nothing goes on forever.
Imagine Loaded with everything interesting subtracted. This is light fluff; at most it's kinda fun. It is extremely funny that this was released under the VU name though. My contrarian heart was so ready for this to be a secret gem, but alas.
