Here, Madonna is on fire, and that's the reason why it launched her career, launched dance-pop, and remains a terrific, nearly timeless, listen.
Entertainment Weekly
She might have wound up just another post-disco dolly if these songs didn’t announce her ability to fuse club beats with peerless pop. Hits like “Holiday” satisfied both worlds, while “Burning Up” showed she could rock, too
Rolling Stone
Still, without overstepping the modest ambitions of minimal funk, Madonna issues an irresistible invitation to the dance.
A debut album that wouldn’t just set the tone for pop music of the ‘80s but would introduce the world to a woman who would go on to become one of the greatest and influential artists of all time

Burning Up
The biggest debut of the song POP. Madonna is iconic and proves it already in the first 20 seconds of "Lucky Star".
Lucky star is such a bop, that I am already on my feet before the song plays.

A pop, banger-filled album with many good songs. The production is definitely outdated but this is still very strong and can bring you to a dance. The instrumentals are blissful and is a fantastic debut.
I will say, this album sets a good first impression for a intro to her discog. Madonna delivers with some great catchy dance-pop anthems that will make you get up and dance. The problem that holds this album back from getting a higher score is the length of the tracks. Madonna has numerous tracks on here that stretch for 5 to 6 minutes and Madonna doesn’t really capture my attention for that whole time. It gets boring and tiring at times but the highs do bring this up to a 7.
