She’s still trying to live down ”Material Girl.” It gave ammunition to her critics and has remained a thorn in her side ever since.

Here, the calculation is apparent, and while that's part of Madonna's essence -- even something that makes her fun -- it throws the record's balance off a little too much for it to be consistent, even if it justifiably made her a star.

She doesn't have the power or range of, say, Cyndi Lauper, but she knows what works on the dance floor.
Madonna’s sophomore album solidified her status as a shining star in the music industry and not to mention birthed her iconic 1984 VMA performance. There are some ballads on this album that weigh down the entire ... read more

Like Diana Ross’s breakout solo debut and Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”, Madonna’s sophomore release comes jam packed and backed by none other than Chic’s Nile Rodgers from start to end. Resulting In an even bigger and stronger second blow, and may I add? Groovy as hell!

On her second full length release, we get a more diverse side of Madonna. Showcasing a variety of different styles and genres, making It clear she was an artist who was here to stick around, ... read more
