Building on the promise and fire of the band's earlier singles, Out of Step instantly became iconic for American hardcore, not to mention for the D.C. scene, for years to come, as well as any number of bands who conflated personal and social politics.

I’ve been wanting to explore hardcore punk and I figured since I love fugazi this would be a good starting point. I was right. This is awesome.

The best way to describe this record is skater punk, hardcore and unrelenting. You’d be hard pressed to find a band that does it better than Minor Threat and the tracks that best show that include “Out of Step” and “It Follows”.

An album that primarily remained under the radar for me. Nothing innately wrong with it, but nothing that made it stand out from other Punk records.

Essential hardcore punk of the early 80's. One of the best achievements of the genre, and most influential diy punk; even if they did inspire 'straight-edge', they weren't pretentious douche bags about it like those who'd later adopt the movement's principles.
