jk jk, I'ven't had the chance to hear some of Acacia Strain's LPs, but this is a nice introduction! Very sludgy, very clearly doom metal inspired, this was a fun experience to hear!
This is the opposite of Step Into The Light, in that while that album blows up in spurts, this is one big massive and never-ending explosion. This is three epic and drawn out metal tracks. “Pillars of Salt” is a very droney song with powerful sounding drums, atmospheric ambience, and monstrous growls. “Bog Walker” is sluggish and spread-out with classic doom guitar work in it. A very unorthodox release by The Acacia Strain. They are know to make crushing deathcore/metalcore records. Failure Will Follow has some deathcore elements as well, and breakdowns are great as usual. The range of influence runs much wider that usual this time including sludge and stoner, maybe even some dark wave though chugging riffs are abundant as well.
