The History of the Albums - n°304

With such an explicit stage name, it is easy to understand how this Californian collective is one of the most important and innovative Avant-Garde and Experimental Rock acts in history. It is also the birth of one of the most cult music geniuses named Frank Zappa. So today we are going to open a new and significant chapter in history, like many of those that make up 1966 and the following revolutionary years. You know what? I'm fucking doing it. I've been putting it off for way too long. It's been months since I started familiarizing myself with Zappa's music, and at this point I've heard a... fair amount of albums of his (I would say a big amount, but considering the size of his discography I haven't even scratched the surface), but I knew that I would need to do a proper deep dive into his discography, and I'm starting now. 'Freak Out!' is quite an interesting record from The Mother's of Invention/Frank Zappa. The sheer weirdness and zany nature of this album is pretty charming to say the least, sometimes it has a part to play in it's downfall a bit but it's very enjoyable nonetheless. These instrumentals combine with the satirical and often political lyrics in the best of ways and makes 'Freak Out!' a unique experience of a record.
