Another set of re-imagined classics in songwriting history, Sinatra repeats his first set of Capitol records; shifting from a moody concept to a fun and jazzy big-band sound. Much like those first set of albums, Songs for Swingin' Lovers! feels like it loses some grandiosity but provides a bouncy and warm contrast.

This was an interesting album. I really enjoyed the more positive lyrics on here, and the big band ensemble fits Sinatra extremely well. The lyricism is very good here, and I especially love, "the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble, but love is here to stay". 'Anything Goes' shows great foresight, and it makes me smile. It reminds me of my grandma and how she always complains, in an elderly fashion, how society isn't like it used to be. She would have been 21 when this album ... read more
