Entertainment Weekly
A fantasy date with Britain’s most ironic and monkish pop star.

AllMusic
Filled with carefully constructed guitar pop gems, the album contains some of Morrissey's best material since the Smiths.

Besides being one of Morrissey’s most vital solo albums, Vauxhall and I is also his first truly mature one, and flaws and all, it’s as essential—and as perversely alive—as ever.

Morrissey can be an imbecile at most times, but I cant deny how great this album is. Tracks like the opening "Now my heart is full'' or ''The More you ignore me, the closer I get'' are classic brit-pop songs. The record itself is easy and sweet to latch yourself onto. This was definitely Morrissey at his peak and an album I return to countless times.

This album, quite simply, didn't stand out among the rest of the albums I listened to this year. Morrissey is clearly a strong artist, but his songwork is rather repetitive in comparison to other acts and the songs all kind of just blend together and don't really bring you to full attention while listening.

Favorite track: The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get

I may have just listened to this at the right time, but I am stunned on how much I loved it. Probably my favorite Morrissey related album (besides Queen is Dead obv) with some of his most memorable lyrics which really shine.
