The Sadies’ most recent album offers up some instantly familiar roots rock, comforting in its sturdiness and utterly solid songwriting — and an enjoyable Kurt Vile feature. It’s a fine line, however, between familiarly solid and blandly boring; and while I wouldn’t call The Sadies bland, per se, this is not the most fascinating record.
