For Stevens, the eternal question has become, is there any genre he does not excel within? With Reflections as proof, the answer is quickly becoming no.

Minimalism meets an early 20th century sound world in an album of double-piano ballet music performed by Timo Andres and Conor Hanick.

Reflections manages to be both bold and creative and often shows the impressive range that the piano can have. However, it is not as mesmerizing or spectacular as some of Stevens’ older albums.

Composed by Sufjan Stevens, the Reflections soundtrack is virtuosic and a pleasant listen but on its own the album feels indistinct and largely forgettable.

While Stevens showcases his talents of composing, and two musicians are helping him out along the way, I must say that I don't have any idea about how complex (or not) the sound of this album might actually be. But it, sure, sounds quite innovative for classical music — and the closer of that record is the proof.

I don't know exactly why this is so uninteresting to me. I was never really bored but it literally felt like 30 minutes of nothing with very brief flashes of something interesting once in a while. I will say, the cover fits the vibe perfectly.
