This is without doubt their best since 2011's Wasting Light, and we should cherish the fact it was made at all.
In its grand gestures and small touches ... But Here We Are keeps its focus on human connection, a distinction that separates it from other Foo Fighters albums.
But Here We Are is one of the best Foo Fighters albums to date. The true and real emotion you feel from start to finish is truly astonishing, exceeding initial expectations at every twist and turn.
But Here We Are will come to be the most treasured Foo Fighters album of all, its sheer existence still feeling like a miracle. A core part of the process was completely reset, as Grohl began with the lyrics for the first time in his career.
With But Here We Are, Foo Fighters have entered another phase of their career. The band that started as a vanity project for a musician coming out of a malaise has blossomed into a multi-faceted and versatile band. Sometimes beautiful things can grow in the most inhospitable terrain.
The result is the Foos' finest since There Is Nothing Left To Lose.
The blindingly white artwork is the sparsest they've had; a heavenly-looking pronouncement of But Here We Are's contents. As a whole it's a fine addition to the Foo Fighters catalogue – but that’s not the point of this album.
But Here We Are is such an honest and raw record that it’s hard to judge but easy to feel and empathise with, especially if a listener has been anywhere near the grieving process.
On the surface, But Here We Are may not be the tragic and mournful epitaph fans were hoping for. But then again, Foo Fighters never carried themselves as a memorial to Nirvana either.
The high ends on this album are deafening and honestly awful... BUT THEN THE ENDING IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUM CLOSERS EVER AND THE LYRICS ON THIS PROJECT ARE AMAZING... Yeah it's in the green. I can't place it in the yellow
Didn't think the Foos had it in them to put out another great record... but here we are.
Well, this was impactful!
I've been aware of the Foo Fighters for quite some time but I never really listened to their discography other than fantastic single 'Everlong' (and maybe a few others that I don't remember the name of) and I know they have maintained a mostly great consistency during their career.
Last February was when I started to pay more notice to them after they starred in a horror-comedy named Studio 666, which was decent fun but didn't quite live up to its wicked concept. The ... read more
A great album that definitely completes the job of giving a tribute to Taylor Hawkins and Dave’s mother. RIP to both.
After many albums, and spending an ENTIRE DAY (don't believe me? check the dates on the ratings) listening to the whole discography, I have finally finished. Who knew the final album would be their best? I liked this a lot, and it didn't even sound like a finale, so there might be more! I had a lot of fun reviewing FF, and I mainly did this bc my friend is a huge FF fan.
