Beats Per Minute

the whaler will make you furious; it will make you feel and assuredly interrogate your own heart. That’s emo music, and it is most definitely Home Is Where.

The second album from the acerbic and eclectic emo-rock band expertly bottles their energy as they sing about constantly pushing for more when given so little.

The Florida emo breakouts expand their songwriting on the restlessness and endurance of daily life on their sophomore record.

With its chief contributor an unreliable anchor and its sense of development largely the product of blurred margins between adjacent songs, The Whaler's moments of standalone greatness come dangerously close to transcending the rest of the album altogether.

A modern midwest emo album with an amazing flow, tons of charm, and a strong sound that doesn't ever run thin

Flows beautifully and has many moments of passion, both in its slow and powerful displays. Best emo album of the year.

Probably one of my favourite midwest emo albums ever. Everything flows in together very well, incredible diversity amongst the tracks! Loved it!

Slow, thoughtful and beautiful, with moments of explosive and sobering passion. One of the most impressively fluid albums of the year. The songs blend in and out of each other like braids, each throughline a separate train of thought and emotion, yet each still manages to stand on its own.
