The arrangements are concise, and their instrumentation is never cluttered—but there’s a richness, almost a grandeur that runs throughout Vermont’s music.

On Vermont II, Plessow and Worgull have crafted an experimental piece founded upon its creators' departure from their respective comfort zones.

These sort of details are easily missed if you don't give II the time and space it deserves. Approach the album with the same unhurried attitude as its creators, though, and you'll find moments to savour.

This is as enjoyable as the duo's debut, another set that rewards deep listening for those with an affinity for Eno/Moebius/Roedelius, Global Communication, the Detroit Escalator Co., and the tranquil aspects of Kompakt's Pop Ambient series.

Not every experiment is necessarily a success, but listening front to back offers an awfully absorbing sort of quiet. Sometimes just listening to artists explore a new space is enough to make for a work worth hearing.

They stretch out just long enough to draw you in and wrap you up in their atmospheres, but they never wear out their welcome. Like most kosmische musicians, Vermont dream big—but never at the expense of the small, tactile details at their fingertips.
