1001 albums you must hear before you die #19

Ella Fitzgerald is an incredible vocalist and songwriter. That being said this album did not need to be 3 fucking hours and 15 minutes. This is a monster of an album, even the shortest version of it is around 3 hours and 15 minutes. This is a great collection of tracks, though, and if you're interested in music from the period and before, this is a good place to start, because a majority of the songs people sang then that made it big were written by the Gershwins, and Ella delivers a comprehensive list of them with a great voice and instrumentation to back it.

Fantastic voice, great instrumentals but holy hell is this thing long. Honestly, just pick out your favorite tracks and listen to those instead of going through the bother, I would recommend at least one listen all the way through however.
