The duo's dialed-in and note-perfect arrangements are lovely throughout the album and the songs are heartfelt and hooky enough that they'd be just fine in the hands of a less potent singer.

Yours Conditionally is indeed a restoration of the loose-fitting, blissful, summertime tunes that brought Tennis to the attention of internet music sites everywhere.

It’s a collection that explores the uncertainty of one’s identity and their understanding of past experiences and current trajectory. And it’s as poppy as anything.

The Line of Best Fit

Yours Conditionally is much more fun when you allow yourself to dive headfirst into its strife and inhale its sarcasm rather than floating along its serene surface.

The 405

Seeking new inspiration, they have now returned with what's undoubtedly their finest moment in Yours Conditionally. The growth might even be missed by a casual listener expecting more of the same, yet it's undeniable. The songs are warmer, the lyrics more present, more biting.

While the album is largely content to reside in familiar, unchallenging territory, however, it is also a lean and well-crafted set of pop songs with more bite than it lets on.

They've returned with a refocused sound closer to '70s singer-songwriter fare from Carole King and Fleetwood Mac, a sound that supports Moore's thoughtful lyrics.
Under The Radar

Yours Conditionally reveals its charms in reassuring and unassuming ways, through unspectacular but steady osmosis of a mellow high.

From the very first listen, it's clear that the isolation surrounding the recording process has transcended into their musical landscape. The arrangements are soft and tropical, with bubbly synths and hazy guitars taking centre-stage, refining the edges of Tennis' key lo-fi sound.

Despite the lyrical punch, Yours Conditionally is hamstrung by Tennis’ drums. The keys and bass on the album are unfailingly warm, but the shabby percussion is one-note, almost the work of a different band.

Northern Transmissions

While overflowing with introspection, Yours Conditional doesn’t always deliver on the music side of things.

Loud and Quiet

If it sounds like a band that’s running out of ideas then these 10 tracks dispel such an idea. They may have started life as a dream-pop band that were criticised for their lack of personality but they’ve developed into a more assured proposition.

Drowned in Sound

The simple and skeletal arrangements don’t make natural canvases for the larger ambitions of the songwriting and vocal performances.

God Is in the TV

A duo that combine intelligent wit with a rare genuine conscience.

A.V. Club

Even with some outstanding singles, the album as a whole finds the group somewhere between its comfort zone and a confident next step, with many of the songs bleeding forgettably into one another.

BeautifulIy fusing elements of soft rock and indie pop, this duo artfully created a sunshiney album. I enjoyed the singer's high-pitched and calm ballads. I remember when I first discovered this band while I was studying, it was nice to bob to. Particularly "10 Minutes 10 Years" which makes me want to get up and dance each time. I get Fleetwood Mac vibes from their sound. The singer ... read more
