One of the few '60s records that I can say was truly ahead of its time. This period of the decade, from 1966 through to 1969, was definitely one of, if not the most creative point in music history. There are so many examples of popular musicians completely changing their sound to a more relatively uncharacteristic sound, as well as many newcomers knocking down the bar and doing stuff that was previously unheard. the fact that this was released in the mid-60s just blows my mind...
Well proto here, proto there - what happens here is music being invented that is not afraid of anything at all. It took some US war veterans living in Germany to create an image and music that´s just mindbogling. Like the 13th Floor Elevators they created a musical universe that never got copied yet still influenced a whole lot of later emerging styles due to their fearless gumbo of crazieness, primitivism and a repetition that should have blown the minds of contemporary german kids that ... read more
yeah its good but it is jam packed with moments where i was wondering why
i dont have words for this album honestly

sure it is technically proto punk and garage rock if you want to simplify it but. i just cant describe the sound,, the drums sound like banging pots and pans, the guitars are incredibly distorted and aggressive for 1966. and the vocals are fucking deranged. man. i had "monk time" stuck in my head for two months after i heard it.
