It's a solid debut for the duo that places them up near the top echelon of their neo-disco contemporaries.
Hanging Gardens is a decadent trifle to lose yourself in, a deceptively simple record that has the potential for great longevity.
The Classixx boys create a fun and groovy album full of enjoyable dance-pop that leans a little generic. Some of the songs are total hits; I love the opening track and the way the boys play with Fleetwood Mac's 'Seven Wonders.' Many of the other songs are forgettable, but the album is consistently pleasant and has many nice moments.
Hanging Gardens took me by surprise. I expected to like it, yes, but I didn't expect to trip and fall headfirst into it as if into Wonderland. It's a surprisingly expansive record that thrives on a tricky sonic simplicity that manages to make the very most out of synth lines and beats that seem easy at first, but are truly genius in their application and the way the melodies weave in and out of each other. It's a spectacular dance album, certainly one of the best this year.
Some great grooves on this debut album. Really impressed with some of the beats and guest vocals on this thing. Definitely one of the better electronic/dance albums released this year. Very memorable.
