While Laufey definitely stands out in the current pop landscape, she’s not yet really nailing the sounds she’s throwing back to.
This has been one of my most hyped albums for this month and oh my god, it surpasses my expectations!
I had high hopes for this ever since I heard "From the Start" earlier in the summer (thanks again to @Dalton for introducing me to one of my new favourite artists of 2023). I loved it instantly for it's bossa nova sound, which gave me "black & white movie" vibes and has since become a top 10 favourite song for me this year.

Laufey is my Icelandic Bossa Nova Queenie! She single handedly resuscitated the genre that is Bossa Jazza (As I’ve termed it) with the vocals of a matured Snow White and the instrumentation of what you get when you somehow figure out how to stick romance in a bottle.

First thing first, Light 5 is a mfing joke.
This album is the theme album of this time for me, finding new people who love and care about me that I haven't ever experienced before. to be cared about this much has made this album so much better to me. I believe experience allows one to see themselves with the music they listen to (dosen't explain my hardcore hip-hop addiction lol). Being able to relate with these lyrics allows me to imagine so much more.

I truly do not know if I can find the words to describe how I feel about this album, but I will try my best. This is from start to finish, a masterclass of that ever so wonderful loving feeling, and throughout the whole album Laufey really shows just how much she understands about love, the feeling of love, and that heartwarming feeling. I think it's not only Fantano effect but also I'm starting to see a backlash from jazz community. The problem is people or TikTok Zoomers call this "jazz" & doesn't understand the jazz culture. I think Fantano reviewed this with jazz perspective... not with pop perspective. People even compare her to freaking Kenny G.
