This a really solid debut. It's nothing mind-blowing, but it's still a very unique early 90s IDM album. There's some clear techno influences on here and as a result of that some of the songs feel a bit repetitive. When the album works, it's soundscapes are really fun to get lost in. When it doesn't work it can be almost boring.
I especially love songs like Eggshell and 444 for their unique production and odd sound combinations. Others, like the intro for example can be a bit of a slog.

Autechre’s first two albums are incredibly overrated, personally find them quite boring and lacklustre. If I can say something good about this album is that the flow is clean and smooth. Their debut is a tad better than the sophomore but overall, Autechre’s early work just couldn’t click for me.

Pretty amazing IDM / Ambient Techno release. I discovered these guys last year when I was experimenting with techno artists similar to Aphex Twin (so stuff like IDM, glitch, ambient techno etc) and I came across these guys with “Bike”. I’m so glad I did cuz this album is damn good and alongside “Tri repetae”. Still haven’t heard their album, “Amber” yet though, which I’ll get round to doing soon.
