Desertshore is an album practically designed to polarize its listeners; you'll either embrace it's darkness or give up on it before the end of side one. Then again, given the thoroughly uncompromising nature of her career as a musician, that's probably just what Nico had in mind.

Very haunting album for an artist that has a section of their Wikipedia page titled "Racism"

Despite having all the personality, the experience and the ambition to craft fantastic works, Nico debuted on her solo career with one (well known) mildly interesting record. Marble Index highlighted a transition into a more bold and self-satisfying period for Nico, at least artistically speaking. What an album to end the month.

The 1970s was one of the most influential and impactful decade of music. After the spike of music creativity in the late 60s as bands like The Velvet Underground. In 1970, Phillip Garrel, a young man and talented filmmaker, falls for the incredulous charms of an enigmatic singer, Nico, and offers her a prominent role in his film titled "Desertshore." Nico stars as the main heroine in the film, expressing herself solely in German, her native language, which Garrel does not understand.
