AllMusic

Made with longtime recording partner Harry Hirsch, the set advances his progressive, often breezy, slightly psychedelic sound rooted in soul and funk.

With ‘Jardin’, Garzón-Montano seems to achieve a rare blend of songs that are repeatedly enjoyable to listen to whilst imbuing these same tracks with an element of deeper meaning.

The result is heavy on pearly funk and pop, live instrumentation and harmony. But Montano mostly avoids sounding like a tasteful throwback, pulling off his merger with zippy grace, in the manner of a prime Pharrell production.

Exclaim!

Jardín serves straight-up soul and funk with a pop sensibility. Garzón-Montano's vocals are solid and serviceable, the album production robust and efficient and the musical mindset supported by a strong level of craft.

I just felt completely embraced by these subtle dissonant harmonies. Cacthy, minimal, artisticaly produced and designed, Jardín is r&b at its most uplifting way. Following Anderson .Paak last year, Garzón-Montano could be, like his colleague was, the best new artist to emerge on his scene just in the first days of this year.
